Since the 2017/18 season, Dshamilja Kaiser has been a permanent member of the THEATER BONN ensemble. There, she enjoyed great success as Carmen, Penthesilea in Othmar Schoeck’s opera of the same name, Laura („La Gioconda“), Ortrud („Lohengrin“), and Santuzza („Cavalleria rusticana“), as well as Maria Maddalena de‘ Pazzi in Salvatore Sciarrino’s „Infinito nero“ as part of the Beethoven Festival. She has since expanded her repertoire to include the Verdi roles of Princess Eboli („Don Carlo“) and Preziosilla („La forza del destino“), as well as Alardis in Schreker’s „The Singing Devil“ and the Mother in „Hansel and Gretel.“

Following her debut as Adalgisa („Norma“) in June 2019 and as Madame Flora in Menotti’s „The Medium“ in 2020 at the FRANKFURT OPERA, Dshamilja Kaiser shone as Venus in the acclaimed new production of Wagner’s „Tannhäuser“ directed by Matthew Wild in spring 2024.

Further guest appearances, shortly after the birth of her daughter in July 2022, took her to the MUSIKTHEATER AN DER WIEN, where she portrayed Amahl’s mother in Stefan Herheim’s new production of „Amahl and the Night Visitors,“ and in spring 2023 to the OPERA BALLET VLAANDEREN GENT/ANTWERPEN as Brangäne in Wagner’s „Tristan and Isolde.“

After successfully performing Lisa in Weinberg’s „The Passenger“ at the OPER GRAZ in autumn 2022, she could be seen as Lady Macbeth, also at the OPER GRAZ, in winter 2023/2024.

As a guest at TIROLER FESTSPIELE ERL (Tirolean festival Erl) the mezzo-soprano made her debut as Foreign Princess in Dvorak’s „Rusalka“ in December 2019. From July 2020 she will also be on stage as Ortrud in a new production of the „Lohengrin“ and at the same time she will play Fricka in Wagner’s “Das Rheingold”.

In the beginning of 2018, Dshamilja Kaiser joined the DEN NORSKE OPERA in Oslo for the production of „Norma“, singing the part of Adalgisa. Also 2018 she was nominated for singing and portraying this role in the category of „Best Performance in Opera“ for DER FAUST 2018, the German Theatre Prize (Deutscher Theaterpreis).

By the end of season 17/18, she performed the role of Lucrezia in „Beatrice Cenci“ by Berthold Goldschmidt at BREGENZER FESTSPIELE, where she is joining the ensemble repeatedly. This role also earned her a nomination for the „Austrian Music Theater Award“ („Österreichische Musiktheaterpreis“) in the „Best Supporting Actress“ category.

From 2009-2017, Dshamilja Kaiser was a fest member of the ensemble at OPER GRAZ, where she sang and performed such roles as Léonor de Guzman („La Favorite“), Orlofsky („Die Fledermaus“), Romeo („I Capuleti e i Montecchi“), Cherubino („Le nozze di Figaro“), Magdalene („Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg“), Elisabetta („Maria Stuarda“), Hänsel („Hänsel und Gretel“), Arsamenes („Xerxes“), Brangäne („Tristan und Isolde“), Carmen and many more.

Currently, besides tuition with Patricia McCaffey and Abbie Furmansky, Dshamilja Kaiser is working with fine artists, such as Ks. Brigitte Fassbaender, Ks. Christa Ludwig, Peter Konwitschny, Daniel Barenboim, Marco Arturo Marelli, Vincent Boussard, Mariame Clement, Johannes Erath, Stephen Lawless, Dirk Kaftan, Stefan Soltesz, Johannes Fritzsch, Stefan Herheim, Konrad Junghänel, Julia Jones and Will Humburg.

In summer 2016 she gave her highly acclaimed debut as La Regina Gertrude at BREGENZER FESTSPIELE in the opera „Amleto“ by Franco Faccio. A live recording of this production was published on DVD at cMajor Label in 2017.

At VOLKSOPER WIEN, she gave her debut in 2014, performing in the role of Carmen and also joined there in season 2014/15 for the new production of „Cosi fan tutte“, performing Dorabella.

Furthermore, she also performed at WIENER FESTWOCHEN, THEATER AN DER WIEN and at FESTSPIELE KLOSTERNEUBURG.

Multitudinous concerts at home and abroad are completing her artistic work: firstly, she appeared in November 2013 at the WIENER MUSIKVEREIN together with the GRAZER PHILHARMONISCHE ORCHESTER under maestro Dirk Kaftan with „Les nuits d‘été“ by Hector Berlioz, in February 2015 she joined as Judit in a concert performance of the opera „A kékszakállú herceg vára“ (Bluebeards Castle) by Bartok, together with ORCHESTRA SINFONICA DI MILANO GIUSEPPE VERDI under maestro Gaetano D’Espinosa.

Born in Wuppertal/ Germany, Dshamilja Kaiser studied at the University of Music in Detmold with Mechtild Böhme and Caroline Thomas.

While studying, she already received a contract at THEATER BIELEFELD as a fest member of the ensemble where she was allowed to gain a broadly based repertoire in her Fach.

In summer 2006 she was a laureate of the German National Academic Foundation and the Richard-Wagner-Foundation, she also earned the State-wide competition for voice in Düsseldorf and the Bergheimer Sängerpreis in 2008.

Furthermore, Dshamilja Kaiser is an awardee of the „Österreichische Musiktheaterpreis 2015“ in the category of „Best Talented Young Singer“.
